To begin, select a rose that is on a black or other solid background or right click on the rose here to use. This rose is called Touch of Class and is a beautiful rose!
Step 1:
Check and see what is the actual size of the rose picture. If you used the picture
here, it should show 200 x 200 when you look in the lower right hand corner of
PSP 6.
Step 2:
Open a new image, the same size as the picture you are going to use for the mask.
Make sure it is 16 million colors with a white background. If the new image is not
the same size, it will distort the mask, which MAY NOT be a bad thing!!!
Step 3:
Move your arrow over you layer tool bar and then click the tiny icon in the upper
left hand corner of the layer toolbar to add a new layer. Then click ok when the
window for the new layer properties appear.
Step 4:
With your new image selected, go to Mask/New/From Image and change it to look like
the following:

Even though your new image does now show anything, the mask is now on the new
image. If you want to see the mask before applying any color, you can go back to
Mask/View Mask and click on that and it should appear as the following:

This lets you view your mask without making any changes to it.
Step 5:
Select the spray paint and set the settings as follows:

I prefer the lower opacities because then I can spray as much color as I like.
Now choose black as your foreground color and spray over your mask. You can either
leave the mask view checked are unchecked. I like it unchecked so I can get a
better idea of what it looks like.

Step 6:
For a bit of a glowing look in the center you may chose another color as the
foreground color and spray a light amount towards the center. In the following
picture I chose a lighter of the pink shades from the photo, although blue is
probably a better choice.
Hope this tutorial is helpful. Any questions email
me.
